Listen up!
Story collectors wanted!

Are you a good listener, interested in people and keen to know about the experiences that they have?
You might be perfect to join intoBodmin’s new team of Listen Up! Story Collectors.

intoBodmin is a community and arts organisation with a mission to provide everyone in Bodmin fair access to inspiring cultural activity.

We are looking to recruit a small group of story collectors to talk with people who come to our events, to find out more about who they are and what they think about the activities we organise in the town.

What is involved?

· Listen Up! Story Collectors will be asked to attend a number of specific events in Bodmin and the surrounding area this summer and autumn, where you will speak with people who come along and collect feedback about their experiences.*

· We will be providing a training session on Friday 28th June (or Saturday 29th June, depending on the availability of applicants). During this training we’ll to go through the needs of the role; what the Story Collectors will need to find out, what to consider and pay attention to when inviting people to share their feelings and opinions in different circumstances, and how we expect story collectors to operate when working with intoBodmin.

· We will provide you with a range of questions to use to initiate conversation.

· We will also have some evaluation forms we would like you to encourage people to complete.

· You will then compile your notes from the event and return them to us.

· We will provide a fee to attend an initial training session and subsequent events. The length of time we’ll need Listen Up! Story Collectors at each event may change, but we’ll calculate the fee according to our hourly rate for freelancers: £16.75. No one session will be less than 2 hours.

*We are initially looking for 2 people to attend 5 events this summer and autumn but expect this to increase and the team to increase in number over time.

What are we looking for?

To be suitable for this role, we are looking for people who:

· are available to attend a number of cultural events in Bodmin and the surrounding area this summer and autumn. Some of these events will be in the day-time, some in the evening, on both weekdays and weekends;

· are interested in people, enjoy talking and listening to others;

· have the confidence to approach people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities and initiate conversation with them;

· have excellent interpersonal skills and help people feel at ease

· are good listeners;

· have good attention to detail;

· are able to take good notes that provide details of conversations held and observations made at events; and

· are able to provide organised notes to intoBodmin at the end of events visited.

It is our preference that people who are interested in the role are computer literate, and can communicate and send written notes via email.

Is this you and are you interested?
