Roots and Routes
Roots and Routes is an 18-month community engagement project that seeks to celebrate Bodmin's heritage and contribute to its cultural revival. The project's main objectives include digitizing the George Ellis Collection, creating contemporary content, and collecting stories from diverse communities in Bodmin.
The project encompasses three key strands:
Looking Back and Looking Forward: Working with Kresen Kernow to further digitise some of the George Ellis Collection and working with Henwyn and Millie and Ellie in engaging participants to building creative interpretations and contemporary archive of current documentation.
Community Stories: Working with Bec Brodskis in co-creating the People's Map of Bodmin, using stories of place and focusing on school days, shopping, and leisure time.
Documentary: Working with Bodmin College Digital Media Degree students and film directo Jon Drever to produce a new documentary about people's Routes through and Roots to Bodmin.
STRAND ONE: LOOKING BACK AND LOOKING FORWARD
Objective: Strand One aims to bridge the past and present, enriching Bodmin's heritage through engagement with the George Ellis Collection and contemporary photography, while also providing young voices a platform through BodZine. This strand will be delivered by Henwyn and Millie & Ellie.
