Volunteer with us
A lot of what happens here is made possible by people giving their time — whether that’s at events, in the garden or helping things run behind the scenes.
People get involved for all sorts of reasons. Some want to meet people or build confidence. Some want to feel part of something or use their time in a way that feels useful.
There isn’t one way to do it. It’s about finding something that suits you and starting there.
How it works...
Getting started is simple. You tell us a bit about yourself, we have a conversation, and then you try something out.
It’s not an interview. It’s just a chance to get a sense of what you’re interested in and what might feel like a good fit. From there, we agree what works — when, where and how often — and you get going.
What our volunteers say...
“I enjoyed coming to events and thought — if I’m there anyway, I might as well help out.”
“Moving back to Bodmin and seeing this place thriving — I had to get involved.”
“It’s helped me feel connected and part of something again.”
Ways to get involved...
Events volunteer
If you enjoy being around live events and people, this is a good place to start. You’re part of the experience on the night — helping things run smoothly and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
That might mean greeting people as they arrive, checking tickets, helping people find their seats, serving drinks or supporting set up and pack down. It’s varied, social and you’re always part of a team.
Admin volunteer
This role sits more behind the scenes and supports how everything runs day to day. It suits people who like working through tasks and keeping things organised.
You might be responding to emails, updating documents, keeping information up to date or helping with event listings. It’s steady, practical work that makes a real difference to how things function.
Garden volunteer
This is a more relaxed, hands-on role focused on our outdoor space. It’s about looking after the garden, growing produce for the café and keeping things moving through the seasons.
Sessions run regularly, but people can dip in and out. You might be planting, watering, weeding or just helping keep the space in good shape. It’s informal and shared — not led, but done together.
Maintenance volunteer
This role helps keep the building working as it should. It’s practical, often problem-solving, and suits people who like getting stuck into jobs and seeing them through.
It might be small repairs, painting, general upkeep or spotting things that need attention. Some people come in regularly, others help when something needs doing.
A few things to know...
You don’t need experience to get involved. Most people start small and build up as they get more comfortable.
Some people take on more responsibility over time. Others keep it flexible and dip in and out. Both are completely fine — the important thing is that it works for you as well as for us.
