Around the woods in 8 Flags!
In support of our co-production of ‘Around the World in 80 days’ with Ha Hum Ah theatre this July, our incredible ‘Knit and Natter’ ladies have created 8 flags to decorate Cardinham woods.
The beautiful, knitted flags you will see around the woods follow eight of the countries that feature most heavily in Ben Kernow’s theatrical adaptation of the novel by Jules Verne.
Okay – seven of the countries, they didn’t specifically mention Cornwall in the novel, but we assume this was an oversight!
A5 trail leaflets have been printed for you to follow the small circular walk from the Cardinham Woods Rangers hut and back.
Phileas Fogg made a wager that he could go around the world in 80 days after the ‘Morning Chronicle’ stated it was possible! (The year is 1872 by the way!).
So, we decided the trail should be a time trial! You can pick your trail map up from the Ranger’s Hut, where your challenge begins! How quickly can you follow the trail, visit each flag, and end up back at the Ranger’s Hut? Time yourself and find out which character from ‘Around the world in 80 days’ you are, according to your speed!
Run, walk, mobility scooter, bike, horse, elephant, hot air balloon (check with the woods first) your way around the trail, then look at the character profiles on the board at the Ranger’s Hut, to find out which character your time matches! Feel free to take photos and tag us on socials (@intobodmin) as we would love to hear how you get on and hopefully, we shall see you at the show!
