Remembering Bodmin: The Plaques
The Old Library has been at the centre of the community since its construction in the Victorian era, which is why it is no surprise that it is site of one of the town’s war memorials (others can be found at Bodmin Keep, St Petroc’s Church, Priory Park, on the main street, on the White Clock, and near Pool Street).
The inscriptions on the plaques at The Old Library can be found below. Thank you to Cornwall Family History Society and Cornwall’s War History Remembered for the additional information. Visit their website (at the bottom of this page) to find out more about the individuals listed on this memorial.
If you have some information about a name on our memorial, or you have a story or photo to share, please do get in touch.
If you’d like to know more about Cornwall’s military history, or if you’d like to visit the museum inside Bodmin Keep, please visit the Cornwall’s Regimental Museum website.

Find out more about the lives of the people listed on these memorials on the Cornwall's War History Remembered website, with thanks to the Cornwall Family History Society.
As part of Cornwall's First World War commemorations in 2018, Collective Arts, Cornwall's Regimental Museum and Bodmin & Wenford Railway presented an intense and immersive theatrical experience: The Trench Bodmin.
As part of this incredible project, the museum produced a very special exhibition, telling the stories of 80 local men who risked everything during the 'Great War'. This exhibition is on display in the museum until the end of 2018. Find out more on their website www.cornwalls-regimentalmuseum.org
