CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES:

Cafe Volunteer

OVERVIEW

The Old Library Café is open Wednesday to Friday 10.30am to 2pm and serves light lunches, cakes and drinks. It is run by a small team with 2 paid members of staff and a small team of volunteers.

As a Cafe Volunteer you will be providing a welcoming and enjoyable experience for customers, you may be taking orders, serving drinks and food, talking to customers or helping in the kitchen. We will offer you tasks that you enjoy and are comfortable doing.  You can read more about the cafe HERE

Being a Cafe Volunteer will include:

  • Welcoming customers and explain the ethos of the café and organisation

  • Taking orders and serve at the till

  • Serving food and drink to customers at the tables including making espresso coffees

  • Preparing food in accordance with the breakfast and lunch menu

  • Carrying out the washing up, including using the dishwasher and washing up when needed.

  • Ensuring the café is clean and tidy at the end of the day.

Skills, Qualities & Experiences we are looking for:

  • To be friendly and condident at interacting with a wide variety of groups and individuals

  • An interest in food and hospitality

  • Some experience of preparing fresh food would be useful

We will:

  • Train you to workin the cafe and/or kitchen and help you complete the company induction

  • Put you through additional training as required such as barista training, food hygiene etc..

Hours Available:  Wednesday and/or Thursday -

3 hour shifts

9am to 12pm and/or 12pm to 3pm.

Length of role:  We would like a one shift per week minimum commitment, if possible

Bodminton Play Volunteer

OVERVIEW

Bodminton is an imaginative tiny town for young children to engage, explore and have fun. With scaled down shops and services to engage with, it provides a unique role play experience.

As a Bodminton Play Volunteer you will be providing support to the Bodminton Lead by helping clean down and reset between sessions, meet and greet families and serving food and drink in the cafe. You will be there to help make Bodminton a great place to visit for childrena nd their parents. You can read more about Bodminton HERE

Being a Bodminton Volunteer will include:

  • Setting up and dismantling the play equipment (This will include lifting large play items to and from storage).

  • Regular cleaning of the play equipment between each session, making sure it is well presented for each fresh group that arrives.

  • To help setup the café and clean down at the end of each day.

  • To welcome parents and children with a friendly attitude, to check them in on the ipad.

  • To serve food and drinks in the café.

  • To use the till system for selling tickets and taking café orders.

Skills, Qualities & Experiences we are looking for:

  • A keen interest in working with young children, potentially with childcare qualifications or similar or previous experience in a similar role

  • To be friendly and condident at interacting with a wide variety of groups and individuals

  • Previous experience of working in a cafe would be great but not essential

  • Must have good time keeping and attendance

We will:

  • Train you to help run Bodminton and help you complete the company induction

  • Put you through additional training as required such as barista training, food hygiene etc..

  • Help you complete a DBS check

Sundays 8.30am to 12.30pm or 12.30pm to 4.30pm

Mondays 9am to 1pm or 1pm to 5pm

Length of role:  We would like a 6 week minimum commitment

intoBodmin Admin Support Volunteer

OVERVIEW

intoBodmin is a growing organisation. We've got loads of projects and staff and ideas and only one administrator, Julie, who works 16 hours a week. We would really value some support with some of our regular administration tasks.

Being an Admin Volunteer may include tasks like:

  • Cashup and banking - completing cashups for events, checking cashup's are correct, completing weekly banking.
  • Bank reconciliation and chasing missing invoices
  • Input feedback forms from events
  • Customer data sheets - number of visitors to cafe, groups, events and any postcode data analysis
  • Monitor the emailus@ email address and forward emails to relevant people
  • Keep volunteer records up to date

Skills, Qualities & Experiences we are looking for:

  • Experience of administration and/or book keeping would be great but not essential

  • Some confidence working with or willing to learn  IT systems - spreadsheets, accounting system etc

  • Must have good time keeping and attendance

We will:

  • Train you to use our book keeping software and other systems and help you complete the company induction

  • Put you through additional training as required

  • Provide a computer or laptop for you to use in the intoBodmin office
  • Support you in the tasks
